Our histories have been systematically erased. The knowledge systems, artistic traditions, and cultural achievements of African and Afro-descendant women remain fragmented across archives, family memories, and oral histories, often inaccessible, undervalued, or simply absent from institutional narratives.
This absence fractures our sense of self. It ruptures the intergenerational transmission of knowledge. It weakens our collective power. Without our stories, we cannot fully understand who we are or imagine who we can become.
ADWIN’s fifth pillar,a global initiative to reclaim, celebrate, and make accessible the rich cultural heritage of African and Afro-descendant women.
We create spaces where women’s stories come alive. Where female artists, activists, healers, and visionaries, often written out of mainstream narratives, are centered. Where knowledge flows across generations. Where history becomes a mirror, not a shadow.
WinHeritage is for African and Afro-descendant women of all generations, for young people seeking cultural anchors, for institutions committed to decolonising their collections and programming, and for anyone who believes our stories matter.
We use innovative, accessible formats that speak to how people live and learn today. This includes vibrant narratives and personal stories that centre lived experience and emotional truth, the celebration of female artists and cultural figures who shaped our worlds, intergenerational dialogues where elders and young people exchange wisdom and vision, digital archives and virtual experiences that make culture accessible globally, and podcasts, documentaries, and cultural content for the platforms where we already gather.
WinHeritage is global.
Our history and culture transcend borders, and WinHeritage operates everywhere the Black diaspora exists, across Africa, the Americas, Europe, and beyond.
We seek partners, museums, cultural institutions, researchers, platforms, and communities who share our commitment to making Black women’s heritage visible, celebrated, and accessible. Together, we can build co-curated exhibitions, research collaborations, archive digitization projects, educational programming, content partnerships, and community advisory roles.
